COWBRIDGE SHOTOKAN KARATE CLUB

Cowbridge Shotokan Karate Club was established in 2008 by Shaun Banfield. Despite being in its infancy, Cowbridge SKC was born out of a dedication to the promotion and celebration of Traditional Karate in Wales.

Affiliated to the Academy of Shotokan Karate (ASK), led by Chief Instructor Dave Hazard 7th Dan, Cowbridge SKC aims to provide its members with a rooted and traditional background in Shotokan Karate, and give its members the skills necessary for effective self defence.

In a world where violence is an all too common media storyline, there is growing need to learn methods of self defence. Through the analytical study of the art of Shotokan Karate, with close attention to the progressions of modern science, we at Cowbridge SKC hope to give our members the skills they need to protect themselves, for a long and healthy life.

In spite of its relatively short history, we pride ourselves on offering the highest possible standards of tuition to all our members. Opportunities are in place for pupils to also take part in the competitive arena, and compete on a national and international level. We already contain current and former champions, and are eager to help promote such opportunities for all our members.
